The Wonderful EggAcupuncturist Damon Lee

Hot or cold compresses are used to reduce swelling or to ease the aches & pains of muscles and joints. Usually our hot/cold compresses are applied by covering large areas, but this does not allow the brain to focus on the smaller, more specific area of tissue that is injured or inflamed. Next time you need a hot or cold application, why not try this method instead?

(Egg compress, note that it should be wrapped in cloth prior to usage, and also that the less rounded side faces the area to be treated.)

Hot Egg Compress

Boil an egg for 5 minutes and the pick it up with a spoon. Wrap the egg with a piece of cloth, making sure the narrower tip of the egg is facing downward. Apply the egg to the painful site for 15-20 minutes. Lift the egg up if you feel that it is too hot. If you want to treat another spot, boil the egg again.

After the treatment, the egg will not be very hot. Take the shell off and roll around your face (for ladies) to smooth your skin (oriental face lift). But don't make an egg sandwich for lunch with the same egg!! Well! For gentlemen, you may need the egg as an energy source. Good-bye eggy - makes a nice snack!

Cold Egg Compress

Put two eggs in your freezer. They will be as hard as rocks after a few hours. When you need a cold compress to treat swelling (acute inflammation, sprains, etc.) or hot stabbing pains, wrap the frozen egg in cloth. Again, make sure the narrower tip of the egg is facing downward. Apply the wrapped egg to the painful site for 15-20 minutes.

After your treatment, put the egg back into the freezer for the next time you need some cold-egg therapy.
