Chinese Massage - Techniques

Kneading: Use your thumb and fingers to hold a group of muscles in a squeeze and release motion as if you are making dough.

The motion should be slow and steady. This is a basic skill.

Rolling: Use the edge of the palm to apply pressure.

Can cover large areas.
Perform with steady and continuous pressure.

Rubbing: Use the palm to cover the area to be massaged and apply continuous pressure.

Can cover long stretches of area such as on the back of the legs and arms.

Chopping: Fingers slightly spread out- both pinkie fingers chop on the muscles.

A stronger stimulation.
Chopping produces a crisp sound, like breaking a piece of celery.
